OUR STORY
Our journey began from a deep personal experience and a visionary approach to revolutionizing mushroom cultivation. Ankitha Chiluka, the founder of Indian Shroom Company, brought together her engineering expertise and hands-on mushroom farming experience to address the pressing challenges faced by mushroom growers.
Growing mushrooms using traditional methods was plagued by contamination risks, labour-intensive processes, and inconsistent yields. Recognizing these obstacles, Ankitha envisioned a future where technology could empower small and medium-scale growers to overcome these limitations reliably and sustainably.
This vision led to the creation of SAFE – the Sustainable Automated Farming Ecosystem – a smart, IoT-enabled grow room system that automates environmental controls to achieve optimal cultivation conditions. Alongside, the innovative SSD (Soak Steam Dry) machine was developed to automate the critical substrate sterilization process, minimizing contamination risks and simplifying production.
From a humble start, testing prototypes in a modest R&D facility to designing modular systems that cater to diverse growers' needs, the journey of Indian Shroom Company is one of persistence, innovation, and commitment to empowering a new generation of mushroom cultivators.
Ankitha's leap from a career in mechanical engineering to becoming an agritech entrepreneur was driven by a passion to make mushroom farming accessible, profitable, and environmentally sustainable. Today, Indian Shroom Company stands as a beacon for modern, smart mushroom farming, committed to creating economic opportunities while ensuring high-quality mushroom production.
